If you can pass through 3 levels, you will be able to buy the red car, optionally. You are free to keep your money for better cars in future. There are 10 levels at most for completing the game. Each level challenges you to collect 5 checkpoints in 60 seconds. Crashes are free. But remember that each crash causes loss of time for you in 3D games. It is a good chance for testing your driving skills with no opponent but time.
